Back when I was dating my now-husband, we were walking through Central Park in New York City, and I told him I always wanted to be a good little tulip. Who says that?! It doesn't even mean anything! Well, we laughed and the name stuck.
To this very day, my husband calls me Tulip, and he is the only one that calls me that. The name Tulip not only has a big presence in my personal life, but is very close to my heart. So, when I developed the character, the kangaroo that comes to Manhattan with a dream to be a rockette, there was no doubt in my mind what I would name her. She was Tulip from the very first day.
Please check back often, as Tulip in Manhattan comes to life!
